It seems sad that at times the obsession with owning something blinds a person to the object’s true worth. When the obsession is absent, however, more time and energy can be directed toward discovering and appreciating the real meaning of the thing. I for one, do not want a whole attic full of possessions attaching themselves to me. Rather, I want the mobility to be able to explore all things, the mobility that a closet full of shoes and the complete leather-bound works of Shakespeare cannot give. – Linda Konner
